About

Jack and Jill boasts 252 chapters nationwide, representing more than 40,000 family members. Each chapter plans annual programming activities guided under a general five point programmatic thrust: cultural awareness, educational development, health (education and advocacy), civic (legislative advocacy and service) and social/recreational areas. Through service projects, Jack and Jill of America creates a medium of contact for children to stimulate their growth and development.

History

The late Marion Stubbs Thomas founded Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, on January 24, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Twenty mothers came together to discuss creating an organization to provide social, cultural and educational opportunities for youth between the ages of 2 and 19. In 1946, 10 chapters were involved in the national restructuring process.

Five Star Chapter

Jack & Jill Baltimore Chapter has been recognized as a Five Star Chapter of Excellence. Our Mother Members executed phenomenal, award-winning programming during the 2024-2025 program years that has nurtured our own future leaders, given back to our community, and made it possible. Five Star is the highest recognition a JJOA chapter can receive for its leadership and operational excellence, and we are honored to be receiving it for the third time. Long Live Jack and Jill! This would not have been possible without the dedication of our Five Star Chair, Mother Stacey Williams, our Program Director, Mother Tara Harrison, and our President, Mother Angela Ginn-Meadow.
