The number one health risk facing African-American families today is obesity. According to a 2006-2008 study conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, African-Americans have the highest rate of obesity compared to others, with the greatest prevalence found in the South and Midwest.
To address this threat, Jack and Jill, Inc. of America launched AIM for Healthy Living – a programming thrust to encourage our mothers, their families and our communities to live healthier lifestyles. By the 2012 National Convention of Jack and Jill of America, we will:
- Achieve healthier lifestyles for our Moms
- Inspire our children to lead healthier lives
- Motivate our surrounding communities to embrace leading healthier lives
The Jack and Jill National Fitness Day is a nationwide event where every chapter across the country participates in a fun and exciting fitness extravaganza where our families and the communities we serve come together and celebrate fitness.
